Groworth compared with 31 budgeting and money apps

Groworth is a budgeting app for Europe that turns your own money goal into levels: every euro you save, invest or put towards debt moves you up. Below you will find it side by side with 31 other apps, with the strong points of each, ours included, and where each one fits best.

We make Groworth, so read this with that in mind. Our own limits are listed as clearly as our strengths, anything we could not confirm is marked, and every source is linked at the bottom. Checked on 23 October 2026.

The short answer

Groworth plans

Free€0€0Budget and transactions, CSV import, unlimited manual accounts, debt payoff plan, XP and levels, daily streak, one goal. No time limit.
Pro€5€50Everything in Free, plus several goals, planned payments, full reports and up to 3 connected bank accounts.
Elite€8.99€89.90Everything in Pro, plus net worth, an investment portfolio (stocks, ETFs, crypto, wallet addresses, property) and up to 5 connected bank accounts.
Friends€17.99€179.90One payer, four seats, Pro for everyone.

A year costs the same as 10 months. Bank data comes through a licensed provider under PSD2, in about 29 European countries, and refreshes about four times a day.

Where Groworth is strong

  • Levels follow the share of your own goal you have reached, not a fixed number of euros. Level 100 means the goal is done, and levels never go down.
  • Only your own decisions earn XP: saving, investing and paying off debt. Your salary arriving and market price moves earn nothing, so a stock market drop never takes a level away.
  • Of the 31 tools we checked, Groworth is the one that combines game elements with European bank sync and investment tracking.
  • A free version with no time limit: budget, CSV import, manual accounts, debt plan, levels, streaks and one goal.
  • Pro costs €5 a month. A year costs the same as 10 months.
  • Personal fields are encrypted, your data is never sold, and you can delete everything yourself in one click. Two-factor sign-in is built in.
  • The app works in 22 languages and this site in 22.

Where other apps go further

  • Groworth launched in September 2026. YNAB, Wallet and Goodbudget have many years of history and large communities.
  • Our bank sync covers Europe. Monarch, Copilot and Rocket Money connect to banks in the US and Canada, and Emma covers the UK.
  • Wallet by BudgetBakers speaks 48 languages and lists more banks in Central and Eastern Europe.
  • For deep investment reporting, Sharesight adds dividend and tax reports and Kubera tracks DeFi and complex assets.
  • Rocket Money finds and cancels subscriptions for you.
  • YNAB and EveryDollar come with courses and lessons on how to budget.
  • Actual Budget and Firefly III are open source and run on your own server.
  • The Groworth iPhone app is waiting for App Store approval (October 2026). The web app and Android app are available now.
  • Levels and streaks are the heart of Groworth. If you prefer a plain ledger, one of the apps above will suit you better.

Questions

What is the best budgeting app in Europe?

Groworth, if you want levels and streaks tied to your own goal with bank sync in about 29 European countries. Wallet by BudgetBakers, if you want the widest bank list in Central and Eastern Europe and 48 languages. YNAB, for a strict zero-based method. Actual Budget, for open source on your own server. The best choice depends on which of these matters most to you.

Is Groworth cheaper than YNAB or Monarch?

Groworth Pro is €5 a month and has a free version with no time limit. YNAB and Monarch are $14.99 a month each. They offer things we do not, such as YNAB's teaching material and Monarch's US bank and investment sync, so compare the features you will actually use.

Does Groworth connect to banks in Latvia and the rest of Europe?

Yes, on Pro (3 accounts) and Elite (5 accounts), in about 29 European countries through a licensed provider under PSD2. Transactions refresh about four times a day. The free version works with manual entry and CSV import.

What is free in Groworth?

Budget and transactions, CSV import, unlimited manual accounts, the debt payoff plan, XP and levels, the daily streak and one goal, with no time limit. Pro adds several goals, planned payments, full reports and bank sync; Elite adds net worth and the investment portfolio.

Which budgeting apps have XP, levels or streaks?

Of the 31 tools we checked: Groworth, BudgetQuest, EveryDollar (streaks and daily lessons) and Fortune City (a city-building game). Groworth ties levels to the share of your own goal you have reached and also offers European bank sync and investment tracking.

What is a good Mint alternative in Europe?

Mint closed in March 2024. In Europe, Groworth and Wallet by BudgetBakers both connect to local banks; YNAB connects in parts of Europe; Actual Budget is a free self-hosted option.

Who should choose a different app?

People who want a plain ledger without levels, people who need US, Canadian or UK bank sync, people who need tax or dividend reports, and people who want to host their own data. The section above names an app for each case.
